Cheap Wilkinson wool

Blue wool

I’ve been having trouble finding cheap, good quality wool in high street shops until I came across this one.

It’s from Wilkinson and only costs £1.35 for one, which is not a bad price. They have a wide range of colours and styles; some of them are multi-coloured. I’ve chosen this baby blue for a crochet blanket that I’m making. It’s very soft and easy to crochet with, so they’re definitely worth it for that price.

Hi everyone!

I’ve  created this cute crochet collar using a simple pattern that I found online. It’s a nice colour wool, which goes with almost any piece of clothing; perhaps a nice plain dress.

The pattern can be found on this blog by LuluLoves. It’s quite an easy pattern to crochet along to; my one came out slightly differently.

The pattern can be found here.

Have fun crocheting!

Hi everyone! This post will show you how you can turn an old, unwanted pair of jeans, into shorts in just 5 steps. They’re very easy to make and you don’t need to be experienced in sewing.

What you will need:
  • Old jeans
  • Fabric scissors

Crochet book and iPad cover

photo (2)

Hey everyone!

For this post, I’m going to explain how I made these covers to protect your books, an iPad or a Kindle. They’re practical to protect your book and devices when they are in your bag,  which is why I made two different ones.

They were very easy to make; I used a treble crochet stitch to get that lovely hole pattern, which is what I was going for.

The pattern is very simple. All you have  to do is crochet a strip which must fit the width of your book and should eventually wrap all the way around. When you’ve done that, close the stitch and with a knitting needle, simply stitch the sides together to form a pouch.

Turn the pouch inside out and begin working on the lid from the back side of your cover. You can use the same colour or a different one, but all you have to do is make sure that this strip covers the top of your book. You can make it as long as you like and can add a button or a fastener so you can close it.

There you go! Now you have a lovely pouch to protect your books.

Crochet pattern: skinny aubergine scarf

Main picture

Hello all and welcome to my first post!

I’m going to share with you a pattern for this skinny purple scarf that I have made. Its the first scarf that I’ve crocheted and it is to match a handmade beret, which is why it’s in this colour. It’s a very simple pattern mainly made up of double crochet, treble crochet and double treble crochet. The pattern is easy enough to follow along if you are a beginner and know the basics of crochet.

Enjoy crocheting!

Note: you can adjust the pattern to fit whatever size you like. These instructions are in UK terms. See here for UK-US conversion information.

Triplecrochet

Hook: 4.5mm

Step 1: Foundation chain: start off with a chain of 20 stitches (and 1 extra for turning).
Step 2: Row 1: Do 1 double crochet in each stitch for the first row. Turn.
Step 3: Rows 2-6: Chain 3 (this is the first double treble crochet of the row. Always chain 3 at the start of each row) and do 1 double treble crochet in each stitch. Do this for five rows.

Step 4: Row 7: Chain 1. Do 1 double crochet in each stitch. Turn.

Doublecrochet

Step 5: Rows 8-17: Chain 2. (Remember to always chain 2 at the start of each row.) Do one treble crochet in each stitch.

Repeat this pattern (steps 4 and 5) until you have your desired length.

When you reach near to the end of your scarf, don’t forget to repeat steps 2-4 to make it consistent with the top end of the pattern.

There you go! There you have your own unique scarf that no one else owns.
